The Priory

The apartment is part of the prestigious Priory. This historical building was once a Victorian gentlemen residence and more recently holiday flats. In 2007 it was completely refurbished to a very high and modern standard, whilst retaining the Victorian character. It is fair to say that this is a unique and charming building in a superb situation. It is ideally situated for those wishing to explore the miles of coastal and country footpaths that surround the property. Wonderful scenery can be enjoyed along these nearby walks. Alternatively, you may want to simply relax and enjoy the spacious communal grounds.

This really is a good place to get away from it all. The building stands above lush woodland grounds and is situated in a quiet yet convenient position on the outskirts of Shanklin.

The Priory

The picturesque thatched Shanklin Old Village is just a short walk away with a good variety of pubs, restaurants, tearooms and gift shops. You will often find live entertainment from local singers & musicians in the Village pubs. The village is a great place to spend some time and ideal for your evenings out.

Near to the Old Village is Shanklin Chine, a natural wooded gorge, and Rylstone Gardens, a relaxing park with crazy golf and tea gardens in a flower filled setting.

Walking a bit further, beyond the Old Village, you will come to the town where you will find a variety of shops, supermarket, banks etc for all your practical needs.

The long sandy beach is also just a short walk away. Coastal paths make for scenic walking to neighbouring Sandown or to the pretty village of Bonchurch through the winding paths of the landslip, in the other direction.

The Island has many other attractions with a variety of beaches, cycleways, footpaths, leisure centres and golf courses. Entertainment and eating places are varied. Check our blog for updates and news.

Visited the Priory once before in 1985 when accommodation was more basic - what a difference now! Thoroughly enjoyed two weeks of mostly good weather - lots of walking - turning left out of The Priory takes you to Ventnor via the Landslip - lovely. All in all a lovely time spent here. No problems. Thank you very much!
